Project Team

MILITARY FORESTS AND ESTATES OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC, STATE ENTERPRISE

 

 

Pavel ČEŠKA, Ph.D. is head of the Forestry Department at VLS. He is especially experienced in silviculture and gene resources management. He has been working at VLS since 1997. Main activities performed during project implementation: Methodological management of work packages WP2 Preparation and methodology and WP4 Adaptation of the Brdy Highlands to climate change. A chairman of the LIFE Adapt Brdy Steering Committee.

 

  

  

David NOVOTNÝ is Director of the Hořovice division, VLS. Main activities performed during project implementation: Manages and controls the project at the level of the Hořovice division, directs the division's personnel towards the fulfilment of the project's goals. As part of his activity, he creates a concept of hunting management and ensures the application and transfer of knowledge into practice. A valuable member of the LIFE Adapt Brdy Steering Committee.

 

  

 

Zbyněk NEJMAN works as chief engineer of the Hořovice division, VLS. He coordinates and manages forest production, hunting, fishing, and other related activities, especially construction and transport, health and safety, and occupational health and safety. He also coordinates and manages activities in the area of waste management and nature conservation. He manages the activities of MTZ, including the purchase of machinery investments. Material and technical security of the project by VLS ČR, state enterprise, especially the preparation and implementation of supplier services.

 

 
 

Petr MACHÁČEK is a forestry operations engineer at Hořovice division, VLS. Main activities performed during project implementation: Processes data, participates in the creation of methodology, coordinates work on the project and prepares outputs of the LIFE Adapt Brdy project.

 

 

 

  

Martin CHYTRÝ, Ph.D. serves as the economist of the forestry division of Hořovice, VLS. Main activities performed during project implementation: Participates in the processing of reporting methodology and accounting data processing at the division level.

 

 

 

 

 

CZECH UNIVERSITY OF LIFE SCIENCES PRAGUE

 

 

Prof. Róbert MARUŠÁK focuses his research on optimization and the decision support systems in forestry with regard to forest monitoring and inventory. With more than 20 years of teaching and research experience in the field of forest resource planning and inventory, he has extensive knowledge, applicable to forestry higher education and practice. Currently he serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, CZU. Main activities performed during project implementation: A valuable member of the LIFE Adapt Brdy Steering Committee; participation in the monitoring and inventarisation activities.

  

  

Assoc. Prof. Lukáš BÍLEK specializes in the restoration of forest ecosystems and the impact of silvicultural measures on the dynamics and development of forests, with more than 15 years of teaching and research experience in the field of silviculture, forest resources and ecology. Currently he serves as a head of the Department of Silviculture. Main activities performed during project implementation: Participation in forest adaptation and transition tasks and related stakeholder engagement activities.

 

 

 

Assoc. Prof. Peter SUROVÝ focuses on remote sensing applications in forestry and forest inventory. His expertise ranges from close range remote sensing devices, aerial scans mostly focusing on lidar, to analysis of satellite imagery. He is a head of the Department of Forest Management responsible for teaching and research in forest inventory, forest dynamics and forest decision and planning. Main activities performed during project implementation: Monitoring and inventarisation of biomass and its changes in time.

  

 

 

FORESTRY AND GAME MANAGEMENT RESEARCH INSTITUTE

 

Jiří NOVÁK, Ph.D. is a head of Forest Research Station Opočno, FGMRI. His research activities are focused on the effect of forest tending and other silvicultural measures on stability and stand environment and resistance to snow damage, windbreaks, and air pollution. He has extensive experience with research projects and the creation of publication and applied outputs. He is a team leader in expert and consultancy contracts, coordinator of sub-activities of the Long-term Concept for the Development of a Research Organization (DKRVO) and chairman of the Council of the VÚLHM, p.r.i. Main activities performed during project implementation: Preparation of management framework guidelines developed for individual types of forest development and methodological manuals for forest personnel.

 

    

Assoc. Prof. Vít ŠRÁMEK, Ph.D. is Director of the FGMRI. Hlavní činnosti v projektu: A valuable member of the LIFE Adapt Brdy Steering Committee.

 

  

 

 

 

STAATSBETRIEB SACHSENFORST

 

 

Dr. Dirk-Roger EISENHAUER works for Sachsenforst State Forests (SbS). He has a very close relationship with Czech and Slovak forestry. He is a graduate of the Forestry Faculty of TU Zvolen, where he also passed his doctoral exam. From the time he started working in SbS, his close cooperation with forestry institutions in the Czech Republic has been developing. Main activities performed during project implementation: Organization of field trips in Saxony, sharing practical experience. A valuable member of the LIFE Adapt Brdy Steering Committee.
