On 31 May 2023, the Hořovice division, VLS ČR, s.p. hosted the MZe and FOREST EUROPE international workshop. As part of the field trip to the Hořovice division, three stops were prepared: one at LS Mirošov and two at LS Nepomuk. At the first stop on Padrť connected with refreshments, division director Ing. David Novotný introduced the participants to basic information about the Hořovice division and the Brdy area. Ing. Pavel Česka, Ph.D. also gave a presentation about the basic principles of defense against bark beetles. The second two stops at LS Nepomuk concerned demonstrations of methods of their restoration on clear-cuts due to bark beetle disasters. On this occasion, the participants were also introduced to the ongoing LIFE Adapt Brdy project, which, by using forest management methods with maximum support of natural processes, aims to convert spruce even-aged monocultures into highly structured mixed forests and thus start the adaptation of forest ecosystems to the ongoing climate change in the Brdy area.
